Description

This event is free and open to all UCalgary faculty, researchers, staff and students who are interested in learning about programs and resources available to help commercialize health innovations.

There is also an opportunity to meet one-on-one for 15 mins with experts during the breakout room sessions. Read more about them here

If you are also interested in meeting one-on-one with experts during the breakout room sessions, please also select a 1-on-1 Breakout Room Meetings ticket. After registering for this ticket, please check your e-mail confirmation for the link to sign-up for a 15 min meeting time slot. These individual meeting sessions are available on a first come basis.

Parking

For those traveling from Main Campus, limited guaranteed parking is available in the TRW Parking (Underground). Public parking is also available in Lot 6, levels 1-2.

About the Speakers

Rachael Hagan - President and CEO, NephroDI Therapeutics, Inc
Previously, Ms. Hagan was the Senior Director of the Coulter Translational Program at Emory University/Georgia Institute of Technology. She was engaged to restructure and restart the Coulter Translational Partnership Fund to ensure sustainable success of the Coulter Foundations investment in the two Universities combined evergreen fund. This managed fund provided $1.5M a year for investment. The program propelled innovation at Emory Medical School and Georgia Tech Department of Bioengineering by providing focused leadership to faculty and administration developing projects with clear unmet clinical need.

Dr. Rifat Pamukcu, MD - Chairman, President and CEO of Midway Pharmaceuticals, Inc
Previously Dr. Pamukcu was Founder, Director and CSO of Cell Pathways, Inc, which was acquired by OSI Pharmaceuticals. He directed the basic science, preclinical drug development, clinical research, regulatory programs, and various aspects of chemical scale-up and manufacturing over the course of decade. He was also instrumental in obtaining over $140 million of capital and in the transformation of CPI to a public company. He received his BA in Biology from The Johns Hopkins University and his MD degree from the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine. Dr. Pamukcu has authored over 110 journal articles, book chapters, and abstracts and is an inventor on over 150 issued or pending patents in the areas of drug discovery and development for cancer prevention, cancer treatment, and inflammatory bowel disease.
